TUCSON, AZ -- Now available from VSi is a licensed temporary tattoo series featuring authentic urban art produced by members of Bajito Onda Community Foundation (Dallas).
Bajito Onda, which defies formal translation, signifies "Underground Scene." It is a nonprofit organization that strives to promote the interests of young people and ex-offenders through the creation of art, some of which appears in the new VSi tattoo collection. There are 10 designs, all hand-drawn by Bajito Onda members.
Bajito Onda founder Del Hendrixson, a graphics designer, began working to empower vulnerable youth and rehabilitate ex-offenders in 1982. "Through education, art and graphic design programs, we give kids a reason to stay off the streets," she explained.
The organization also offers adults an opportunity to earn a living and find purpose in low-income neighborhoods. Each person Hendrixson has worked with has joined Bajito Onda's membership rank, which now totals more than 1.5 million worldwide.
"We chose to enter into an agreement with Bajito Onda due, in large part, to the age and strength of their foundation," said Damon Safranek, director of vending products for VSi. "It is refreshing to partner with an organization whose aim it is to serve and empower the community as a whole."
VSi marketing vice-president Heather Nathanson observed that "in vending there is a large market for urban product. This is the first series of its kind to be based on authentic art by the community."
