G&J Marketing and Sales has announced that it now can provide nationwide coverage to its principals. Greg Sidwell, who founded G&J with his wife Jayne in 1984, explained that the expansion climaxes a two-year effort to build the technological infrastructure and organization capable of supporting coast-to-coast representation.

G&J has appointed four regional managers who bring a total of 118 years' experience in vending and foodservice to the task of overseeing the new national entity.

Marty Mirt has been appointed regional sales manager for the northern region, which includes Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and West Virginia. He joins G&J from PepsiCo Food Service (Plano, TX) ,where he most recently served as senior key account manager. He previously had been a vending territory sales manager.

Promoted to lead sales efforts in the southern region is Mike Craig. His territory spans Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Mississippi, North and South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. He joined G&J in 1997, and has served as a sales associate for western North Carolina. Prior to that, he spent 13 years with Harold Food Co. (Charlotte, NC), where he advanced to general manger.

Managing G&J's sales team in the western region -- Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana Nevada, Oregon, Wyoming and Utah -- is James Barber. Barber, a 25-year food industry veteran, most recently served as operations manager for Classic Food Services (Durham, NC). He was recognized in 2009 as North Carolina Vending Association Vendor of the Year.

Appointed as G&J's central region sales manager is Daryl Thomas. His territory includes Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas and Wisconsin.

Thomas's food industry experience spans three decades; he most recently was director of sales for Cincinnati-based Pierre Foods. Earlier in his career, he served as foodservice marketing manager for Sara Lee's Jimmy Dean foodservice, and as division sales manager for Vistar Corp.'s Tennessee division.

G&J presently has a total of 26 sales representatives, Sidwell explained. He reported that the company plans to add 19 additional members to its team by the end of 2011. It also has an expert inside sales support staff, reinforced to accommodate the company's larger service area. It concentrates on telephone and e-mail sales, as well as supporting the outside sales team.

G&J Marketing and Sales is based in Palm Harbor, FL, and online at gandj.com.
