Canteen Vending regional vice-president Bob Mangiafico has announced his retirement, effective April 23, after 48 years with the organization.
Mangiafico joined Canteen in Hartford, CT, in 1964, as the full-line vending revolution was reaching its peak. He held a variety of posts as the company grew and diversified, most recently assuming responsibilities in the southeast.
Carolinas-Virginia division president Tim Bailey hailed Mangiafico's outstanding dedication, extraordinary service, undaunted leadership and exceptional loyalty, but added that he is best known for his can-do attitude and good nature.
During his career with Canteen, Mangiafico was honored with several national "Be A Star" awards, recognized as Regional Director of the Year and lauded with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Founded in 1929 when vending was in its infancy, Canteen led the way as the industry applied fast-evolving technology and operating methods to meeting the refreshment and foodservice needs of an ever-broader market. Today, it is part of the international Compass Group and serves more than five million customers a day at some 18,500 client sites. Canteen Vending maintains a 200-branch network of company and franchise operations in 48 states.
