SCOTTSDALE, AZ -- Apriva has teamed up with GoCoin to process digital currencies like bitcoin for its 1,000-plus channel partners, which will bring new payment options to vending operators.

GoCoin, headquartered in Singapore, China, stakes its claim as the first payment gateway solution designed from the ground up to support both bitcoin and emerging alternative like "litecoin" and "dogecoin" at checkout.

The GoCoin partnership enables Apriva's resellers to provide their merchants the ability to safely accept digital currencies without taking on market volatility, according to the companies. Merchants can keep the coins, or immediately trade all or part of them at the current market rate. GoCoin reportedly assumes all risk during the exchange.

Apriva's gateway provides connectivity between payment devices, merchant acquirers and payment processors allowing merchants to accept secure card payments at vending machines, on dial, IP and wireless terminals, and on mobile devices.

Apriva's gateway currently supports credit, debit, EBT, loyalty, check and closed-loop payments. Through this partnership with GoCoin, Apriva's gateway will support digital currency processing for future purchases.

"Digital currencies are another driver of change within the payments industry and quickly gaining in interest from consumers," said Apriva chief executive Chris Spinella. "Our customers rely on us to be at the forefront of innovation so they can differentiate themselves and take advantage of new opportunities to meet their consumer needs."
