Compass Group USA, vending business, Canteen Vending, Gov. Beverly Perdue, foodservice, Job Development Investment Grant
CHARLOTTE, NC -- Compass Group USA plans to relocate 200 corporate employees from regional operations to its Charlotte headquarters over the next four years. It will invest $8.5 million to support the expansion, according to a recent announcement by North Carolina Gov. Beverly Perdue.
The contract foodservice giant received funding from the Job Development Investment Grant program to use toward the project. It is eligible to receive a grant equal to 55% of the state personal income withholding taxes derived from the creation of new jobs for each of the eight years in which company meets annual performance targets. If Compass Group USA meets those targets, it could get almost $2 million in benefits.
Compass Group USA, which is the parent company of Canteen Vending, the nation's largest operator and vending franchisor, employs more than 1,000 people in Charlotte. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of London-based Compass Group PLC, which employs more than 428,000 people worldwide.
