LONDON, England -- The organizers of the European Amusement and Gaming Expo report that exhibit space reservations and advance registration for the event are proceeding at a gratifying pace, heralding a triumphant follow-up to the event's debut early in 2010. The EAG 2011 Expo is set for the ExCel London exhibition and conference center here from Jan. 25 through 27.
Sponsored by the British Amusement Catering Trade Association and administered by EAG Ltd., the European Amusement and Gaming Expo was conceived in 2009. BACTA decided to launch its own show in order to re-establish the importance of the amusement sector and identify it with its own event "focused entirely on our members' needs and interests," the association explained.
That first show had a profound impact, said EAG Ltd. chairman Martin Burlin. Lauding the many 2010 exhibitors who are returning in 2011, he said, "It is fantastic that EAG has established such a strong reputation in such a short period of time."
More than 130 exhibitors will display in excess of 200 product lines. Using online survey tools, BACTA polled exhibitors to estimate how many companies and products will be on display. Statistics collected indicate that 37% of exhibitors will have an average of three other companies represented in their booths. Moreover, 59% of exhibitors indicate that they will be showing between one and three new products, 30% say that number is between four and 10, and 2% are planning to unveil 10 or more. And 71% of exhibitors estimate that they will display up to five product ranges.
"This was a simple survey," Burlin noted, "but it provides a reasonable indication of what visitors can expect. They can be certain to see hundreds of companies demonstrating a huge amount of equipment, a lot of which will be newly launched. Exhibitors clearly take this event very seriously – 61% rated it the most important show that they attend -- so EAG Expo 2011 is going to be a fantastic start to the new business year and an essential trip for any operator."
Operator response for the event also is running ahead of expectations, the industry veteran added. "We are extremely pleased with such a high level of early registration, and we are looking forward to a lively show," he noted. The 2011 event is expected to draw more than 5,000 trade visitors, 40% of them from overseas.
EAG 2011 Expo planners have built on the strengths of the first show in designing the program for this one. Following the success of the 2010 business program, EAG again has planned a series of free seminars presented by longtime industry leaders Frank Seninsky and Michael Getlan. Slated for Tuesday and Wednesday (Jan. 26 and 27), the seminars will address current issues, offering valuable information for maximizing the success and profits of an operation.
Seninsky has more than 40 years of operating experience. He will present "10 Critical Steps in Designing and Laying Out a Game Zone," walking participants through the design process, answering questions and offering advice on sitting games and attractions within an arcade or FEC to optimize customer satisfaction and business profitability.
Getlan, a third-generation operator and avid game player with a unique perspective on the operational side of the family entertainment center business, will present two sessions. "Redemption 2.0" will review the latest developments in redemption and explain how to "turn up the volume" in an operation. In "Training Employees to Provide the Best Customer Service," the speaker -- who strongly believes that a well-trained staff is the secret to building repeat business -- will describe the process of developing a training program specific to an operation. The seminars will take place in a purpose-built facility in the ExCel exhibition hall.
New in 2011 is the Arcade Operator Pavilion for small to midsize first-time exhibitors. It's a combined effort by EAG and Arcade Operator, a Web-based business directory and forum for operators that is one of EAG's media partners.
ExCel London was awarded the coveted title of "World's Best Meetings and Conference Center" at the recent World Travel Awards Grand Final Gala ceremony. The honor was bestowed after a rigorous assessment process that graded every aspect of the venue's facilities and services. Thousands of industry professionals and consumers from around the world then voted, placing ExCel above leading venues in Singapore and Sydney and proving that the home of EAG Expo is a world leader.
