DANVILLE, CA -- The Pelican Group (Danville, CA) has added cotton candy vending machines to the mix of equipment that its operators will install in Regal Cinema locations nationwide. Participating in the rollout are Intermatic’s Cotton Candy Vending division (Denver) and VendEver LLC (Henderson, NV).

“We are pleased to have been selected to participate in this program,” said Intermatic North American vice-president Marty Man Smith. He reported that the company has geared up to produce more than 500 machines over the next three to four months to support Pelican’s Regal Cinemas initiative and other national rollout programs.

The machine, developed by Intermatic in the United Kingdom, is in extensive international use. Cotton Candy Vending produces a model specifically designed for the United States market, contracting the manufacture to Grand Products (Des Plaines, IL). Information on the Cotton Candy Vending machine may be found at cottoncandyvending.com.

VendEver, which markets the U.S.-specific Cotton Candy Factory manufactured by Feiloli Electronic Co. (Hemei, Changhwa, Taiwan), is turning out a custom-styled model for the Pelican rollout. “We’re honored to take part in this special Pelican program,” said VendEver president Brian Duke, who noted that it will build nationwide recognition for the Cotton Candy Factory.

He reported that VendEver is working overtime to ready its machines for the Regal Cinemas project. They feature special yellow styling and a number of advanced features, including the new "flash topper" and an MDB interface that permits their use with a wide range of coin changers, bill validators and “recycler” change dispensers, as well as debit and credit cards. The first production units were shipped in October. Information is available at vendever.com.

Headquartered in Knoxville, KY, Regal Entertainment Group operates the largest motion-picture theater circuit in the United States, with 542 theaters in 37 states and the District of Columbia as of Sept. 30.

Founded in 1993, Pelican Group is a nationwide vending and amusement management company. It works with some 450 operating companies.
