CHICAGO -- The City of Chicago should repeal its ban on gambling to opt into the Illinois's impending video lottery market, said leaders of several Chambers of Commerce from the state.
Support for VLTs was announced during a joint press conference in mid-April by the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, the Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Illinois Black Chamber of Commerce and Chicago area union leaders. The form took place under the rubric of the Back to Work Coalition of Illinois.
The Chicagoland Chamber has posted specific language for a proposed amendment to local city ordinances that would permit VLTs in Chicago. | SEE AMENDMENT
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel remains a staunch opponent of video poker legalization.
