MILFORD, CT -- Smiles Entertainment Center, a 25-year-old family entertainment center and popular community fixture here, closed its doors in mid-August.
Smiles, which was called Milford Amusement Center until 2001, was operated by New Rochelle, NY-based Amusement Consultants Ltd. Amusement Consultants, owned by the Getlan family, operates FECs in 11 states and has created arcades for such Las Vegas casinos as the New York-New York Hotel & Casino, the Stratosphere and Caesers Palace.
Milford's economic development director, Robert Gregory, told local news media that Smiles was "a nice little entertainment place" and its closure is unfortunate. However, Gregory said he still thinks there's a market for out-of-home entertainment in Milford and would not be surprised if a similar FEC business opens again. | SEE STORY
Earlier this year, Krazy City, an arcade and restaurant in Milford's Connecticut Post Mall, shut down after three years in business.
