LAS VEGAS -- The National Dart Association
reports that more than 12,000 entrants from four
countries competed for a piece of the $500,000 prize
purse in Team Dart XXV, which kicked off nine days of
soft-tip darting on April 16 at the Riviera Hotel and
Casino here.
Some 155 operators, who are NDA charter holders, sent
teams to Team Dart this year. Entry qualifications include
being an NDA-sanctioned player and playing at least 96
league games in a specified period for the coin-op
vending company that enters the player in the
tournament.
This year's big winners hailed from Germany. In the
finals, the German men's team defeated the U.S., ending
a four-year winning streak for the Americans, while the
German women's team beat its U.S. counterpart for the
second year in a row.
Separately, the dart association announced that it is
moving the Team Dart extravaganza from the Riviera
to Bally's Las Vegas. Team Dart XXVI will be held at
the new location from April 29 to May 7, 2011. "Players
and operators will find Bally's to be a great location for
Team Dart and a convenient location to other Las
Vegas attractions," said NDA president Chris Warren.
