GLENVIEW, IL -- Kraft Foods Inc. raised list prices on its Maxwell House and Yuban coffee brands in the U.S. The hikes went into effective Dec. 14, after prices for green coffee rose to 13-year highs.

The price of Maxwell House and Yuban roast and ground coffee has increased by 12%, or 35¢ a pound. Instant coffee costs 4%, or 2.5¢ an ounce, more.

Kraft Canada said it will raise prices in Canada on Maxwell House and Nabob roast and ground coffees by 7% to 10%, effective Jan. 30.

Kraft last raised list prices in early August by 10% on the heels of a 9% price hike by J.M. Smucker Co. on most of its Folgers, Dunkin' Donuts and Millstone coffees in the U.S. Starbucks announced in September that due to rising green coffee costs, it would raise prices of labor-intensive and larger-size beverages.
