TOKYO -- Namco Bandai Holdings Inc. said financial results for the third quarter of the current fiscal year, ending March 31, showed higher revenue and profits compared with the same period last year.

The manufacturing division for coin-operated and consumer videogames also saw higher year-on-year revenue of $832.5 million and higher operating revenue of $79 million, the Tokyo-based company said.

The forecast for the full fiscal year includes a prediction that 2012 profits would be 10 times greater than in 2011, due chiefly to stronger sales of home videogames in Japan.

See the Namco Bandai Consolidated Financial Report for the third quarter of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2012, for more details.

Meanwhile, in an apparent effort to boost brand awareness, Namco has released a new mobile application at the iTunes Store that gives players the ability to enjoy 1980s arcade classics on their mobile phones, including Xevious, Tower of Druaga, Motos and Phozon. The app is free, but playing the games requires either a further purchase of each title or a pay-for-play subscription.
