TUKWILA, WA -- Evergreen Vending, based here, recently relocated its Vancouver, WA, branch to Courtesy Vending's Portland, OR, headquarters.
Evergreen Vending and Courtesy Vending, owned respectively by operators Jim Brinton and Paresh Patel, will remain independent companies. Courtesy's modern, custom-built headquarters is home to its eight routes, which serve the greater Portland market, and now 13 Evergreen routes. Evergreen has a total of 38 routes that serve western Washington and the northwest and west-central regions of Oregon.
The operators said they are seeking a manager to oversee their combined operations at the facility. By sharing purchasing, warehousing and key personnel, they will cut costs and boost operating efficiencies.
"We need to do all we can to be able to remain competitive in a shrinking operator market," said Brinton, who also owns Avanti Markets, a maker of self-checkout systems.
The sharing of Portland facilities is the second alliance recently announced by two operators. Brinton has invested in VendScreen, a touchscreen user interface for vending machines marketed by Patel, and has joined VendScreen's board of advisors. | SEE STORY
