COCKEYSVILLE, MD -- The first-ever open house held at the headquarters of A&A Global Industries here attracted representatives from some 60 bulk vending operating companies. The two-day program featured a showcase of the latest vendible merchandise and plant tours, as well as lectures on product safety and development and plush merchandising.
While most visiting operators came from A&A's local area, others traveled from New York and New Jersey, and from as far away as Texas, Canada and even Brazil. Also attending were Betson Baltimore's Nick Sarioglou and Patrick Meers, who brought with them a selection of the latest crane machines.
"Our goal was to bring customers up to speed on A&A and the bulk vending industry, and to deliver a unique experience," said A&A executive vice president Brian Kovens. "We did just that."
The event, which took place on June 23 and 24, afforded many operators their first look inside A&A's Cockeysville, MD, headquarters and plant, which houses injection-molding, tool-and-die and powder-coating facilities. Koko's Confectionary & Novelty -- a unit of A&A that specializes in manufacturing and packaging pressed dextrose candy, gumballs and interactive dispensers -- is also based on the Cockeysville campus.
Throughout the event, operators had ample time to network and share ideas on how to run more profitable and efficient routes.
"What made our open house unique was our ability to create a carefree atmosphere in which operators from all over had the chance to connect with peers and friends," said A&A vice-president Phil Brilliant. "We put a lot of time and effort into making sure that the experience was both educational and fun. For those that could not attend, I hope that they'll find the time the next time we open our doors so they can benefit from the experience as well."
A&A is contemplating turning the two-day open house into an annual program.
