May 3, 2004: Valley-Dynamo Q1 Sales Up 19%; Merit Offers Advance Downloads

LAKE FOREST, IL - Brunswick Corp. has reported growing sales for Valley-Dynamo, which it acquired in June of 2003. According to George W. Buckley, Brunswick chairman and CEO, "Valley-Dynamo'continues to perform at expected levels. Excluding incremental sales from this acquisition, segment sales increased 19% in the quarter. Higher volumes, effective cost management and accretive margins from the Valley-Dynamo acquisition accounted for the significant improvement in operating margins for the segment." Overall, Brunswick's quarterly sales across all divisions for 2004 Q1 rose 28%, with marine engines and boats leading the way. But, Buckley noted, "Acquisitions also played a role in the sales gain."
