SCOTTSDALE, AZ -- Apriva reports that its point-of-sale gateway processed wireless payment transactions worth $1.76 billion in the second quarter of this year. That surpasses the previous mark of $1.53 in transactions handled during the first quarter. Average daily transaction volume for the recent quarter was $20 million, the company added; this represents a 15% increase over first-quarter results.
Apriva president Paul Coppinger said, "One of the most satisfying aspects of this success is the fact that every one of our POS initiatives is performing well. Our core gateway business continues to demonstrate growth, while both our AprivaPay mobile payment application and Apriva Vend cashless payments service are thriving in their respective sectors."
That core gateway business historically has been Apriva’s market strategy focus, Coppinger noted. Nevertheless, “Apriva’s rapid ascension in both the mobile payment application and vending spaces are key factors for the recent results.
"We're seeing that several strategic developments are beginning to take hold," the Apriva president continued. "Our relationship with AT&T and other leading providers has certainly played a role in the uptake of the AprivaPay mobile payment application. And our strategic partnership with MEI, the global leader in payment acceptance technology, has helped propel the penetration of our Apriva Vend end-to-end cashless payment solution within the vending space."

Brent Iadarola, global research manager for mobile and wireless communications at Frost & Sullivan (Mountain View, CA), said he expects Apriva's growth to continue in the " foreseeable future." He credited the company's track record, strong distribution network and penchant for innovation.
