Namco America Issues Service Bulletin For Tank! Tank! Tank!

ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL -- Operators who are running Namco America's Tank! Tank! Tank! motion-cabinet party game have been alerted to a potential mechanical problem and the procedure for avoiding it. The service update covers games with serial numbers from FC00400A00 through FC00400A48, and FC00400B38 through FC00400B99.

According to Namco America, the compressor that provides "force feedback" to the steering wheel and the seat of a game in these series may be susceptible to loosening of its motor cam setscrews. If these come loose, the compressor's fan blades can break.

Namco America product coordinator Sam Ven explained that preventive action is relatively simple: the setscrews should be removed and their threads doped with Threadlocker PX #24250 or an equivalent locking compound, then replaced and tightened to their locked position.

"This service can be completed in less than 30 minutes," Ven explained. "We strongly suggest that you check your unit's serial number, and if it is part of the group mentioned above, that you act quickly to check and update your unit."
