MONTEREY, CA -- Compass Group North America is taking sustainability to new heights as a member of the Greener Fields Together, a sustainability and local produce initiative. Created by the PRO*ACT produce supply-chain management company, GFT is a collaboration of environmentally responsible farmers, distributors, retail locations and foodservice operators.
Participation in the program will give Compass Group greater access to produce grown at both the national and local levels through its produce procurement partner, Foodbuy.
"Greener Fields Together allows us to grow our commitment to sustainably produced food by supporting farmer partners who are willing to put in place those best ecological practices important to the health of our planet," said Marc Zammit, vice-president of sustainability initiatives at Compass Group. "Just as important, this means that our guests can enjoy a larger variety of healthy foods and feel good about what they are eating in our cafés."
