Valley-Dynamo Augments Pool Line With Brunswick Branded Table

Marcus Webb

RICHLAND HILLS, TX – Metro Coin by Brunswick is the full name of the latest coin-operated pool table from Valley-Dynamo. It begins shipping this month following its rollout at the recent trade shows.

Valley marketing director John Garrido explained that Metro Coin represents a new marketing concept that is intended to make the table an asset to any location, including sites that traditionally have not accepted coin-operated tables in the past. He said the unit will be promoted with the slogan “Visualize This Table,” encouraging locations to consider placement in new types of sites such as upscale branded coffee shops, classy sports bars, or even top-quality FECs, as well as taverns, restaurants, LBEs and other more traditional locations.

Brunswick already makes a consumer pool table, called simply Metro, that has been hailed by some pool aficionados as the “coolest table on the scene,” said Garrido. Valley executives realized that a coin-operated version could be an ideal addition to their line, if it capitalized on the consumer product’s already-established image and popularity. Hence, the company has rolled out Metro Coin, which combines Valley’s traditional quality construction and technology with an elegant new design and an already-popular name and brand.

Stylistic innovations include newly developed curved lines and a classy black-and-silver color scheme. Placement of the currency collector door, as well as other modern features, is intended to enhance visual appeal. The unit also takes advantage of the famous and prestigious Brunswick brand name, which is spelled out in eye-catching, bold letters on the side.

Several functional features are designed to enhance gameplay and please pool fans. The eight-degree curved cabinet construction, for example, creates a sleeker, more modern look, and also provides greater player comfort and control during difficult shots, said Valley representatives. Metro Coin’s imported slate, four bolt dual density cushions, Championship cloth, and the Saluc brand, Valley-certified Cougar cueball are likewise designed to maximize profits and increase player satisfaction by allowing perfect roll on every shot. For example, the cushion rails offer a strong “bite” and deflection for more accurate shots. The built-in top rail LCD screen displays accurate times when playing Speedpool, requiring less guesswork about who played the fastest game. Also, the LCD screen displays current pricing options.

Operators will appreciate the fact that Metro Coin is fully programmable through the same award-winning technology that first debuted with Valley’s Great Eight pool table. A self-contained, battery operated bill acceptor allows operators an unlimited variety of settings and pricing options. Executives said operators now have more control over profitable play with program options such as time play, rack play, happy hour, bonus games, league play and Speedpool. Operators and players alike will find it convenient that, with the dollar bill acceptor and rolldown coin mechanism, there is no need to convert bills to coins. This allows players to experience more games as desired without standing in line for change.

Valley officials reported receiving strongly positive reaction to Metro Coin at ASI, and writing significant orders. Distributors and operators can expect to receive their tables by mid-April.
