Chuck E. Cheese's, CEC Inc., arcade, coin machine business
IRVING, TX -- CEC Inc., owner-operator of more than 500 Chuck E. Cheese's entertainment centers in 48 states and six countries, has experienced a run of negative publicity in the past 18 months as consumers -- and the occasional employee -- have behaved badly.
The company got another black eye on July 28 when celebrity blogger Perez Hilton wrote about the latest unfavorable story (two women in Kentucky arrested for abandoning kids at a CEC store while they shopped).
Hilton said the latest incident demonstrated what he called "the curse of Chuck E. Cheese" and called on consumers to "shut the restaurants down," adding, "No good will ever come from Chuck E. Cheese."
CEC Inc. had no immediate comment at presstime other than to say they "respect [Perez's] first amendment rights" to free expression.
