Dole, Mrs. May's Naturals Inc., packaged health and nutrition market, vending snacks, health bars
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA -- Dole has acquired Mrs. May's Naturals Inc., helping ramp up its offerings in the packaged health and nutrition market.
Mrs. May's makes fruit- and nut-based clusters and bars and freeze-dried fruit, which are sold in retail and vending channels. The snacks are vegan, gluten-free and kosher.
Mrs. May's Naturals Inc., founded in 2002 and headquartered in Carson, CA, had sales of about $16 million in 2011. The company will become part of Dole's packaged foods division.
Dole will continue to package the snacks under the Mrs. May's brand. The company said it will also consider cobranding and new product development.
Dole had 2010 net revenues of $6.9 billion. It is the largest producer of fruits and vegetables in the world. Its single-serve fruit bowls, EZ-open cans and fruit parfaits are vending machine staples.
