CAMBRIDGE, MA -- Mayor Henrietta Davis has proposed limiting the size of soda and sugar-sweetened beverages sold in Cambridge, MA, restaurants.
The Cambridge mayor said she was inspired by the unprecedented measure proposed last month by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg to ban the sale of sugar-sweetened soft drinks in portions larger than 16 fl.oz. at city restaurants, movie theaters, sports venues and street carts. | SEE STORY
Citing an increased risk of obesity and diabetes, Davis asked city health officials to research her proposal and make a recommendation.
The National Automatic Merchandising Association and the National Association of Concessionaires are among the organizations that have joined New Yorkers for Beverage Choices, a coalition formed to oppose New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's proposed ban. | SEE STORY
