2014's exhibit hours decrease only one hour, compared with 2013's

CHICAGO -- Amusement Expo, now the only national event dedicated to coin-op amusements, jukeboxes and bulk vending, will host exhibits for two days in 2014, and the show will anchor a separate day for an educational program, according to organizers.

The 2014 Amusement Expo will be held March 26 and 27 (Wednesday and Thursday) at the Las Vegas Convention Center in North Hall 4. The exhibit floor will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days. Tuesday, March 25, will be dedicated to "Knowledge Sessions," which also will take place at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The Expo Education Committee is currently working on a compelling program that will address timely topics and provide useful information, organizers said.

Amusement Expo is the merger of the former (and separate) coin-op trade shows sponsored by the Amusement and Music Operators Association and American Amusement Machine Association. It was held in 2010. National Bulk Vendors Association, which has collocated its trade show and convention with the Amusement Expo since 2011, has approved the changes for the 2014 event.

"Onsite and post-event polling conducted in conjunction with this year's exposition showed a strong preference for two full days of exhibits and an expanded education program," said Amusement Expo chairman John Pascaretti, Pascaretti Entertprises (Warren, MI), who is also AMOA president. "The show's leadership is committed to making the show as valuable as possible and we feel the new format addresses this issue in a major, positive way."

MEI's Chris Felix, vice-chairman of Amusement Expo, added, "As an exhibitor, I believe this move is a great way to sustain the Expo's energy, enthusiasm and excitement from start to finish. We started the process by condensing exhibit hours this year, but next year's schedule represents a bold step in making the trade show more productive and by putting a greater emphasis on continuing education."

In 2014, total exhibit hours will be 16 hours in two days, compared with 17 hours over three days for this year, and 18 hours in three days for each of the exhibits that took place between 2010 and 2012.

Amusement Expo is jointly owned by AMOA and AAMA, and managed by W.T. Glasgow Inc. Show manager Brian Glasgow observed that more trade shows in general are playing a greater role as learning resources for the industries they serve. "For attendees and exhibitors, there are synergies that bolster participation in both the show and seminar settings," he said.

This year's Amusement Expo educational program consisted of 11 sessions held on the mornings of the show's first two days. About 415 showgoers participated in those seminars, which covered self-redemption, cranes, ATMs, FEC design and innovation, social media, service, and financing and capital strategies, along with the third installment of a roundtable series called Survival for Route Operators.

Separately, Foundations Entertainment University held its FEC educational program on March 18 and 19, alongside the Amusement Expo.
