BRUSSELS, Belgium -- The European Vending Association has published its latest study detailing the state of vending on the European continent over a 10-year period. The report provides an in-depth look into European vending, analyzes key performance indicators and identifies industry trends.
The study points to stagnation or decline in vending in certain countries, but suggests that there is room for overall growth. It includes data on total euro sales volume of various countries, the installed machine base and market value by type of machine, and sales volumes (vends) for each machine category.
Among the study's key findings are:
» Europe has an installed base of 3.77 million machines, with total euro sales volume of €11.3 billion ($15.43 billion).
» The "big 6" countries (Italy, France, Germany, UK, Spain and the Netherlands) account for 80% of the total machine base.
» The Netherlands has the highest penetration of vending machines per person, while Russia has lowest machine penetration.
» 60% of European vending machines are in the hot drinks category.
