LONDON -- Exhibit space registration for the third annual European Amusement and Gaming International Expo is progressing at a swift pace, according to the trade show's planners. The EAG 2012 Expo, sponsored by BACTA, which represents the British amusement industry, is set for the ExCel London exhibition and conference center here from Jan. 24 through 26.

EAG Expo chairman Martin Burlin said the start of preparations for the 2012 event is promising. Advance bookings for stands were approaching 76% of available space by mid-August, he reported, with all of last year's large exhibitors rebooking for 2012.

"London has hosted a major amusement exhibition in the last week of January for over 70 years and we see this response as the industry's endorsement of EAG International's perfect timing for those wishing to view the latest innovations and to place orders for the coming season," the chairman said.

Organizers of the EAG Expo said they are also putting the finishing touches on a highly topical seminar program. Seminar and exhibit schedules are being fine tuned to improve networking opportunities for visitors and exhibitors.

Additionally, EAG Expo will support exhibitors with its largest-ever marketing investment, Burlin said. The show's communications team has been bolstered, and it will continuously update more than 90 international publications on the latest EAG developments. Expo press partners will carry bulletins and features as show preparations build, and a direct marketing campaign will deliver over 15,000 brochures and invitations.

Separately, the British Association of Leisure Parks, Piers and Attractions Ltd. recently announced its sponsorship of EAG Expo. BALPPA and BACTA, which stands for the British Amusement Catering Trade Association, share common interests and have worked together on various issues for over the years. And many equipment operators and manufacturers are members of both associations, strengthening their relationship.

In planning for a year, BALPPA's sponsorship is significant because it "paves the way for the show to build on its coin-op sector success and develop into a broader market," Burlin said. "We are very proud to be working with BAALPA and immensely pleased to share in its 75th anniversary events which will take place during the 2012 show. There is so much that our associations and industry sectors can share and learn from one another."

BALPPA will host its 75th anniversary dinner on Jan. 23 at Drapers Hall. The leisure association will also hold its general meeting and other events during AEG Expo.
