GREENVALE, NY -- Apple Industries is releasing a new software package for its photobooth line that enables patron access to a variety of Internet services and social networks. It also allows operators to monitor and manage their machines remotely.

With Smile 2.0, Apple photobooth, patrons can email photos, post them on Facebook or tweet them immediately. The enhanced photobooths can communicate over broadband landlines or wireless services, or across a WiFi local area network. The software allows customers not only to take and customize pictures, but also to create audio and video recordings for upload. It also can capture email addresses for marketing purposes.

"Social media is an exciting and entertaining part of today's world, and our Smile 2.0 software brings it right inside the photobooth," said Apple chief executive Allen Weisberg. "All of our photobooths, except the single-purpose Magazine Me, will feature our new Smile 2.0 platform and touchscreen technology, and we anticipate this new platform attracting new locations and increasing revenue, particularly with the younger audience."

For operators, the new software provides features that can enhance management. Machines can be accessed remotely to retrieve audit information, adjust settings, verify the supply of consumables and perform booth maintenance. Once Smile 2.0 is running on a machine, software updates can be uploaded directly.

Apple president Warren Friss explained, "Smile 2.0 is only the beginning. Smile 2.1 and Smile 2.2, already being worked on, will provide operators with additional amazing technology, all downloadable directly to their booths."

Apple Industries has become a leading manufacturer of photobooths during its 30-year history. Its coin-op equipment lines include Apple Photo Booths and Face Place, originally acquired from Polaroid Corp.

The company is headquartered at 200 Forest Dr., Bldg. 8, Greenvale, NY 11548; tel. (516) 619-8000, fax (516) 945-3649.
