GREEN BAY, WI -- Kitchen Fresh Foods reports that it has adopted the National Automatic Vending Association's healthy vending program.
The Green Bay, WI, fresh food supplier, which covers a 10-state area in the Midwest, said it had a program in place to bring better-for-you products to its operator customers but switched to NAMA's Fit Pick for its flexible, easy-to-implement approach. Kitchen Fresh currently offers more than 70 items that meet the criteria.
FitPick is designed to educate consumers about products in vending machines that meet specific nutrition standards. Unveiled nationally by the vending association in 2008, it includes stickers that are placed in front of qualifying products and thin clings that explain the nutrition standard. It is part of the organization's Balanced for Life program that is designed to educate consumers about the elements of a balanced diet and the importance of physical activity.
More than 1,000 organizations, including government agencies, schools, worksites and vending companies, are currently registered for the Fit Pick program.
