Hav-A-Cup's Frank Lail Dies

HICKORY, NC -- Archie Franklin "Frank" Lail of Hav-A-Cup Coffee and Quality Water Service based here, died here on May 13. He was 78.

Lail entered the coffee business 45 years ago working for Standard Coffee Service (New Orleans). He went on to found his own coffee service company, Easy Break Coffee Service, based in Florida and later changed its name to Hav-A-Cup Coffee Service.

In 1980, Lail sold his stake in the Florida company and moved to Hickory, NC, to launch a company under the same name in the local market. His wife Edda of 55 years and children Lester, Leigh-Ann, Karl and Wanda have been part of the family business throughout the years and played key roles in building and managing the company. The company has grown from its first route in Hickory to Asheville, Charlotte and the surrounding areas.

In addition to his wife and children, Lail is survived by five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
