CLEARWATER, FL -- Melitta USA is rolling out a reusable filter system as an alternative to prefilled single-cup portion packs. JavaJig is designed for use in most Keurig single-cup brewers.
JavaJig users insert a compostable paper filter into the reusable plastic cup. They then fill it with their favorite ground coffee or loose tea, adjusting fill level according to taste, snap on the cover and insert it into the brewer. To reuse the brew cup, they dispose of the filter and rinse the cup with water. | See JavaJig video
Melitta says JavaJig costs approximately 50% less per cup than using prefilled single-serve coffee capsules, offers a wide variety of beverage options and is an environmentally friendly alternative to many portion packs on the market.
JavaJig will be available nationwide at major grocery and specialty retailers, beginning Oct. 1. A starter kit that includes two filter cups and 30 filters will retail for $8.99; a refill pack of 60 JavaJig single-serve filters will retail for $3.99.
Melitta USA, headquartered in Clearwater, FL, is part of Germany's Melitta Group. It markets coffee, filters and brewers in the U.S. Melitta's founder invented the drip-brew paper coffee filter in 1908.
