SEATTLE -- Starbucks Coffee Co. has named Matthew Ryan global chief strategy officer. Ryan comes to Starbucks from The Walt Disney Co. (Burbank, CA), where he was senior vice-president of global brand, franchise and customer relationship management.
Ryan will report to Starbucks chairman, president and chief executive Howard Schultz, and will serve on the company's senior leadership team. He will be responsible for leading Starbucks' long-term strategic planning process; improve the monetization of its retail, channel and emerging brands; and strengthen the company's customer relationship management and loyalty capabilities. The Starbucks global customer insights and strategy teams will report to Ryan.
The new chief strategy officer also will serve on the company's global brand leadership team, and will partner with Starbucks' recently appointed global chief marketing officer, Sharon Rothstein, to apply enhanced customer insights and analytics to the company's brand expression and customer experience.
He will assume his duties in May and will headquarter at the Starbucks Support Center here.
