Snow Patrol's Greatest Hits on TouchTunes
On May 28, 2013, TouchTunes launched a national promotion for Snow Patrol's Greatest Hits album. Featuring tracks from the band's 2003 album Final Straw, 2006's Eyes Open, 2008's A Hundred Million Suns and 2012's Fallen Empires, the album will be the first Greatest Hits package from the multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated band. A newly edited version of Snow Patrol's single, the sixteen minute "The Lightning Strike" called "The Lightning Strike (What If This Storm Ends?)" is also featured. Comprised of Gary Lightbody, Nathan Connolly, Paul Wilson, Jonny Quinn and Tom Simpson, UK-based Snow Patrol first debuted in 1998 with the UK-only indie record Songs For Polarbears and broke internationally upon the release of Final Straw. Snow Patrol's Greatest Hits features 14 of the band's most notorious anthems including "Run," "Chasing Cars" and "Open Your Eyes."
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis
Starting May 21, 2013, TouchTunes began featuring Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' hit single, "Can't Hold Us," from their debut album, The Heist. Ben Haggerty, better known by the stage name Macklemore, began independently releasing music in 2000 and started working with producer Ryan Lewis in 2008. Their collaboration on the single "Thrift Shop" skyrocketed the duo to international fame; the song reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, sold over 2 million copies and has been celebrated for over 300 million YouTube views. Their debut full length release, The Heist, came out in 2012 and shot to #1 on the US iTunes Albums chart just hours after its release. "Can't Hold Us" is Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' follow up anthem and has been called a "massive summer hit." The music video for the track premiered on April 17, 2013 and already has over 28 million views on YouTube.
Daft Punk "Random Access Memories"
On May 21, 2013, TouchTunes launched a national promotion for Grammy Award-winning duo Daft Punk's highly anticipated new album, Random Access Memories. Eagerly awaited by the band's fans for over eight years since their 2005 release, Human After All, Random Access Memories is Daft Punk's fourth studio album and has already been met by critical acclaim. A departure from the band's signature electronic approach, Random Access Memories echoes sounds from late 1970s American music and utilizes live instrumentation from session musicians. The album's lead track, "Get Lucky," features rap superstar Pharrell Williams and will surely become another triumph for Daft Punk.
Trace Adkins Releases "Love Will…"
May 14, 2013, Trace Adkins eleventh studio album, Love Will…, made its debut on TouchTunes. The album features several guest appearances including Colbie Caillat, Exile and the Harlem Gospel Choir. Adkins first made a splash on the country scene in 1995 with his debut album, Dreamin' Out Loud. Twelve years, 10 studio albums and over 20 hit singles later, Adkins boasts four Grammy nominations, three Academy of Country Music Awards and two CMT Awards. The country superstar has also made multiple film and TV appearances, including featured roles in The Lincoln Lawyer and Lifted, as well King of the Hill and Celebrity Apprentice respectively. The Boxer Rebellion New Album "Promises"
Starting May 14, 2013, TouchTunes began promoting The Boxer Rebellion's fourth studio album, Promises. Formed in London in 2001, the quartet released their eponymous EP in 2003, which included the indie band's first commercial hit single, "Watermelon." Since then, The Boxer Rebellion has released three studio albums including Union, which was voted Best Alternative Album by iTunes in 2009. In addition, the band has enjoyed a multitude of on screen sync placements on various TV shows including The Vampire Diaries, Grey's Anatomy, One Tree Hill and CSI, as well as in the films Going The Distance and The Art of Getting By. Promises will be led by the single "Diamonds," which has been described as "a hi-fi, soaring piece of work that truly delivers on the band's epic, signature sound." The album will be supported via a North American tour, and in addition, The Boxer Rebellion will perform at the British Summer Time concert festival at Hyde Park in London July 6, headlined by The Rolling Stones.
