PHILADELPHIA -- AMI Entertainment Network has hired Dave Courington as a regional sales manager. He will headquarter in Dallas.
Courington comes to AMI from Valley Dynamo (Richland Hills, TX), after a long and distinguished career with that company and its predecessors. In his new post, he will work with AMI's southwestern customers. His new email address becomes firstname.lastname@example.org as of Nov. 4.
Courington became a professional foosball player during that game's initial surge of popularity in the United States in the 1970s and '80s. He then began operating foosballs, eventually placing more than 130 tables in the greater Houston region. He joined Tornado Inc. (Fort Worth, TX) in 1983 as vice-president of sales and promotions. Tornado was acquired by Valley Co. (Bay City, MI) in 1994, whereupon Courington joined the Valley National 8-Ball League Association (VNEA) and created the Valley International Foosball Association. He also worked with the Amusement and Music Operators Association on a number of programs, and assisted operators in setting up leagues for coin-op pool, foosball and darts.
Valley merged with Dynamo (Richland Hills) in 1999, and Courington became vice-president of sales for the new Valley-Dynamo organization. During this period, he played a major role in introducing the Great Eight table, which pioneered multi-price payment systems for table games and received an AMOA Innovator award. Courington's most recent post at Valley Dynamo was domestic sales manager, which he assumed in 2009.
During his lengthy career, Courington has been influential in the creation of such "industry-changing" products as the Panther, Top Cat, Short Shot, Blue Streak, Firestorm, Best Shot and the Tornado foosball table, AMI observed. In addition to his involvement in the VNEA, Courington has served as chairman of the American Amusement Machine Association and has served on many industry committees.
"I am proud to be part of the AMI team," Courington said. "I am excited to be part of the upcoming video jukebox product, and I look forward to bringing new tools to operators that can grow their business and income."
