Pirate's Hook, Unis arcade game MARKHAM, ON -- Universal Space's Pirate's Hook, a two-player video redemption piece that challenges patrons to turn a hand-crank to lower a hook and snare valuable fish, made it under the spotlight on two continents. Bigger fish earn higher scores, and the mega-bonus "treasure" goes to the player who snags the wily, elusive Lobster King.

Featuring a 42" LCD monitor and eye-catching LED illumination that changes colors continually, Pirate's Hook debuted in late March at Amusement Expo in the Las Vegas and in Moscow at the Russian Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions' 15th annual exposition. Both shows took place March 20-22, and Unis's exhibits included a diverse array of amusement equipment.

Pirate's Hook is engineered for fast-paced play action that rewards skill and good timing. After money is inserted, a game is initiated by each player's pressing a button to lower his or her "hook," which is visible on the screen. Once the hook is down, attention shifts to the reels. The rotating handles used to control the on-screen hooks incorporate multiple tension settings; greater exertion is required to haul in larger fish. The overall object is to catch as many fish as possible within the time limit of the game, while avoiding "junk" catches that have no ticket value.

Unis international sales manager Steven Tan explained that the game originally was launched at last fall's International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions show in Orlando, FL. "Pirate's Hook has proved itself to be a great addition to all types of locations," he reported.

"We are very pleased with how well Pirate's Hook is performing," he added. Earning reports can be had by calling Tan (905) 477-2823.
