June 27 Update: Vonnie D Announces [Its] First Title: "Pinball Gremlins"
COLUMBIA, MO -- The countdown has begun. A new pinball company is set to launch, and it promises to bring new blood to the classic amusement machine category. Based in Columbia, MO, Vonnie D Pinball is the creation of Von Davis and Wes Upchurch. The young flipper game enthusiasts hope to succeed where others have failed.
So far, the partners have managed to create a buzz about their unknown pinball product among hardcore players and collectors through social media, and a spartan website. A counter at the site ticks off the seconds, minutes, hours and days to launch: Friday, June 27.
Davis has a degree in mechanical engineering and gained hands-on experience by restoring games for the Pinball Co., also of Columbia. Upchurch comes from the family entertainment center sector and also operates a traditional pinball arcade and game repair warehouse.
Whether or not Vonnie D. Pinball can deliver the "next generation" of pins with original designs remains to be seen. Others are trying. England's Heighway Pinball is reportedly up and running, and there's lively talk about Dutch Pinball BV's plans for machine inspired by the movie "The Big Lebowski." | SEE NEWS RELEASE
