Namco, Pac-Man, Dave & Buster's DALLAS -- Pac-Man Battle Royale made its first appearance in a supersized deluxe version at Dave and Buster's locations in December. Namco America is billing the latest iteration of its video classic as the first competitive Pac-Man arcade attraction. The new videogame will reportedly be available industrywide this month.

In Pac-Man Battle Royale Deluxe, Namco takes the videogame that fans know and love and steps up the action with a twist: players eliminate their opponents by eating them, and the last Pac-Man standing wins the round.

In the deluxe version, the game cabinet is outfitted with a huge monitor, as opposed to the cocktail table "Royale" format released in early 2011, so onlookers can get in on the action. The LCD screen is outlined by four red, yellow, pink and blue LED 'neon' lights that each run down to one of four control stations, color coded and Pac-Man faced, with color-coordinated ball-top joysticks, and accented in glowing track lighting reminiscent of the early '80s.

"Pac-Man is back, and he's bigger and hungrier than ever," said Mike Kane, Dave & Buster's game strategist. "It's Pac-Man vs. Pac-Man, and they're dueling to be the last Pac-Man standing." As part of the Dave & Buster's launch, Pac-Man Power Girls visited select D&B locations on Dec. 16 and 17 and treated customers to free games. From Times Square in New York City to Milpitas, CA, the Power Girls marshaled the crowds for some videogame fun and competition. See photos on the game's Facebook page.
