OKLAHOMA CITY – Police here may have the city's so-called "Jukebox Bandit" in custody.
Over the past month, it appears the same suspect has been caught on surveillance videos in multiple locations using a crowbar to break into at least four locations, where he pries open the jukeboxes to steal the banknotes inside -- up to $1,000 per machine. Each time, the burglar escaped before police had time to respond to alarms.
On Saturday night, Jan. 26, a security guard at an auto rental store in Oklahoma City heard an alarm in the next-door coin-op Laundromat. His flashlight revealed a suspect inside, who fled. The guard chased and tackled the would-be thief. The guard and customers from a nearby bar sat on the suspect until police arrived and placed him under arrest.
The suspect resembles the figure in the tavern videos and used a crowbar to enter the Laundromat, said local news sources.
