CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – A gumball bandit in Corpus Christi, TX, has been sentenced to five years in jail. Robert Lee Johnson was apprehended after a local news program aired a video recording of his hauling a double-head bulk vender out of Spohn Memorial Hospital and depositing it in his pickup truck.
Johnson, who was apprehended still in possession of the machine in early May, was sentenced in early June. Local law enforcement is crediting the arrest on a tip from someone who recognized Johnson in the surveillance video on the local news.
