SCOTTSDALE, AZ -- Apriva reported a record $1.85 billion in wireless transactions processed through its point-of-sale gateway during the third quarter of 2011. This surpasses the $1.76 billion record it set in the previous quarter, and represents a 25% gain over the third quarter of 2010.
Apriva reported that its gateway handled approximately $5.14 billion in transactions during the first three quarters of 2011, a 27% increase over the same period in 2010.
Apriva president Paul Coppinger said the company's mobile payments, vending machine and core gateway services are performing well. He cited the growth of Apriva Vend cashless payments as a growth driver. Vending is a part of the company's channel expansion strategy, which he said is a major contributor to growth.
"The activity in the vending space has been solid," Coppinger said. "Every week, we see more vending operators implementing cashless vending than we had the previous week. It's a trend that is clearly gaining momentum. We fully expect our cashless vending business to continue to climb heading into 2012."
Apriva Vend incorporates system hardware and software, wireless connectivity, transaction and alarm reporting capabilities, and integration with leading payment processors and financial institutions.
Looking ahead, Coppinger said the company will introduce a new "wallet solution" in 2012.
