ROCHESTER, NY -- New from Bombar Inc. is a spicy peanut snack, supplied in 2-oz. bags for sale through vending machines, and from pegboard racks or display boxes.
Peanuts, spiced or sweetened, are popular in many Indian cuisines. The fast acceptance of the novel spicy nut product in New York has encouraged the company to expand its line with two larger package sizes, a 4-oz. "big bag" and 16-oz. bulk pack.
"I grew up eating spicy peanuts in Bombay," said Bombar founder Lalit Shah. "When I moved to America, I missed what I had known in my youth, so I've created my own special recipe of my hometown favorite."
The product has proven popular with vending machine patrons, tavern-goers, convenience store shoppers and customers of ethnic grocery stores in the greater Rochester area. Creative customers in this upstate New York metropolis not only have taken to the nuts for snacking, but also have used them as an ice cream topping and a salad ingredient, Shah said.
He explained that his Bombar Nuts recipe has been calibrated carefully for the tastes of the U.S. public. "You won't find them too mild or too hot," he said. "It's 'heat you can handle.'"
