Fantasy’s Digital Photo Booths Advance With New Features

Marcus Webb

HUDSON, NH — Fantasy Entertainment has upgraded its line of digital photo booths with new features such as credit card, gift card and scrip acceptance, along with numerous advertising and marketing capabilities. (Scrip is securely printed “play money” that is used like cash and redeemable at all booths with newly offered bill acceptors.) This cashless vending solution is achieved through Synapse Vending technology provided by Transaction Network Services.

Synapse Vending by TNS is a market-ready solution that officials said can be quickly installed in existing vending machines; it comes with wireless connectivity that eliminates the need to hardwire machines. “Synapse Vending by TNS is a complete, bundled end-to-end solution; meaning the solution includes hardware, communication services, card processing, settlement and Internet-based reporting,” said John Powell, TNS vice-president for vending services. (As reported by VT earlier this year, Synapse was originally developed for Pepsi-Cola’s vending operations and is slated for installation in 10,000 cold drink machines by the end of this year. For Chicago-based Levy Restaurants’ contract foodservice business, Pepsi machines equipped with Synapse have experienced a 17% volume increase.)

Fantasy Entertainment digital imaging units are hi-tech marketing tools that vend coupons with every picture, allowing for targeted foot traffic or third-party partner promotions. Some Fantasy Entertainment units allow operators to sell advertising on multimedia flat monitor displays along with traditional poster-sized advertising. Fantasy Entertainment assists customers with customized designs for all of these marketing tools, assuring a tailored look and feel for all elements.

The company’s newest booth, the Showcase, is a semi-enclosed, sitdown booth that offers streaming video on an exterior monitor that is visible to passersby, usable for anything from paid movie trailers to full motion advertising of the booth itself. Also included is a changeable poster framed area, as well as the flexible payment options outlined above.

Also new is the upright Snapshot, featuring a compact footprint and kiosk-style design with backdrop curtain rather than an enclosed booth. Many themes and colors are available; software allows photo backgrounds and frames to be changed continually to match holidays and other themes.

Upgraded products include Foto Fantasy, which allows the consumer to take a live photo or photos in the booth and choose from six types of reproductions: Fantasy (choice of backgrounds); Multi-pose (customers get four different sequentially shot photos on vended card); Signature (customer may select frame and have name printed on image); Studio (traditional portrait shot with choice of four different techniques including Color Photograph; Sepia Toned Photograph, Black and White Photograph or Black and White Sketch); and ID Photos (vended product replicates same portrait image four times).

Patrons may experiment with the six different options before finalizing their selection, enhancing the customer experience. Machines features voice and on-screen instructions in several languages. Monitors on the sides or top of booths draw the attention of passersby. Graphics are updated automatically by the system monthly, highlighting new and different available backgrounds. Custom graphics are available for photo frames and backgrounds.

Four booth styles are available for Foto Fantasy. The Classic Model I and Classic Model II are traditional, squared-off, enclosed sitdown units that have identical dimensions: 60 ins. L. x 35 ins. W. x 87 ins. H.; footprint: 14.58 sq.ft. Power: standard 110v or 220v 15 amp dedicated circuit, CE approved. Materials: wood and plastic laminate on steel frame, mounted on wheels. Weight: 924 lbs. Classic Model I has an eye-catching decorative structure on top; Classic Model II does not. Both models have a small TV monitor mounted in the cabinet to allow passersby to view the images as they are digitally manipulated by the patrons inside the booth.

The Foto Fantasy Skyline Model offers a smaller enclosed, sitdown unit with a more dramatic stair-step profile at one end, and a curved wall on the other. A standard-sized TV monitor may be mounted on top of the cabinet; it allows passersby to view the images as they are digitally manipulated by the patrons inside the booth. Dimensions are 61 ins. L. x 31 ins. W. x 78 ins. H. (total height with top monitor 102 ins.); footprint: 13.13 sq.ft.; power: standard 110v or 220v 15 amp dedicated circuit, CE approved. Materials: wood and plastic laminate, mounted on wheels. Weight: 800 lbs.

Smaller still is the Foto Fantasy Ladybug Model, an enclosed sitdown unit in a compact cabinet featuring rounded front and back. Dimensions are 78 ins. L. x 34 ins. W. x 78 ins. H. (total height with top monitor 102”). Footprint: 18.41 sq.ft. Power source is a standard 110v or 220v 15 amp dedicated circuit, CE approved. Materials: wood and plastic laminate on steel frame. Mounted on wheels, the Ladybug fits through a 36-in. door. Weight: 800 lbs.

Fantasy Entertainment also offers more novel and specialized digital imaging products including Foto Fun Strips (which allow four poses and vends eight pictures on two strips to “tear and share” with friends). The Digital Easel is designed for party rentals and renders up to 25 color or black and white, sketch-type portraits per hour. Portrait Studio creates simulated hand-drawn portraits in the artistic style of the customer’s choice. Rounding out the line are Photo Art Strips, Sketch Express and Sticker Station.

The company is also an operator in its own right with more than 3,000 photo, portrait and sticker kiosks nationwide and more than 1,000 units in 26 countries. More information is available by calling (800) 933-2682 or (603) 324-3240; or online at fantasyent.com.
