PAMC, AMCNJ Merge, Add Delaware Operators To Create Tri-State Council; Plan Joint Meet With MDCVA, June 5-6

Tim Sanford

HERNDON, VA — The Automatic Merchandising Council of New Jersey and the Pennsylvania Automatic Merchandising Council have come together to form a new association to represent operators in both states and in Delaware. Called the Tri-State Automatic Merchandising Council, it was established by an agreement of merger signed by AMCNJ president Jeff West and PAMC president Andy Calhoun.

“Given the number of consolidations in the industry over the past several years in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, it made sense for these two state chapters – among the oldest and most active NAMA state chapters – to merge into one,” Calhoun observed.

Jeff West added that he hopes the merger will give the industry a stronger voice in the region’s state capitals.

Both presidents noted the trend toward consolidation of state councils and their annual meetings. Oregon, Washington and Alaska have been joined as the Northwest Automatic Vending Association for many years, and the Kansas and Missouri councils merged as the Mid-America Automatic Merchandising Association in 2004. The New England councils have held a joint annual meeting for two decades, and six councils in the Southeast hold a combined meeting as the Southeast Vending Association.

The new organization will team up with the Maryland/DC Vending Association to conduct a combined conference at the Hershey Lodge (Hershey, PA) on June 5 and 6. The Tri-State council will hold its first annual membership meeting on Thursday, June 5, at 3:00 PM, and the new board of directors will meet an hour later.

A membership reception, joint meeting and banquet will commence at 6:00 PM and conclude at 10:00 PM, culminating in entertainment by illusionist Wayne Hoffman (a contestant on NBC’s popular “Phenomenon” talent-search program), starting at 9:00 PM.

A membership golf tournament will begin at 8:00 AM on Friday, June 6, at Hershey Links in Hummelstown, PA; the festive outing will conclude with a luncheon and the presentation of awards, starting at 1:00 PM. Those desiring to play should enroll by May 15.

Information on the combined event may be had from Pam Gilbert in the National Automatic Merchandising Association’s eastern office (Herndon, VA) by calling her at (703) 435-1210; she also may be reached by emailing pgilbert@vending.org.
