ELGIN, IL -- United Food Group Inc. is planning to roll out an updated Perfect Servings hot drink condiment dispenser fitted with a video screen. The new machines, set to launch within the next four or five months, will be able to run five- to 30-second commercials targeting consumers in foodservice locations, c-stores and other retail sites.
"This is a breakthrough technology that allows advertisers to connect with consumers as they add sugar, cream, flavored creamers and sweeteners to their coffee," said United Food Group president Bryan Real. He explained that the business model provides ad revenue sharing with location owners, while at the same time saving them money through controlled dispensing of powdered creamers and sweeteners through the five-hopper, bulk-loaded dispenser.
UFG developed hardware and software uploads media content to the dispensers. The company said its technology is flexible enough to work anywhere in the world with an Internet connection to a wireless router. It can be adapted to work with 3G and 4G networks.
"Our technology allows us to upload ads to individual stores, groups of stores or entire chains anywhere in the world, anytime, even on short notice," said Robert Long, project engineer at United Food Group. "There are no limitations on where we send our customer's message. We have customers in Mexico, Canada, China, South America and Costa Rica. All of our customers will be supplying our products with our new audio video screens, and we can change ads weekly from Elgin, IL."
Officials said the technology has application in a wide range of locations, including corporate cafeterias, hotels, grocery and chain drugstores, specialty coffee shops and fast-food restaurants.
