INDIANAPOLIS -- The AMOA-National Dart Association plans to launch a tournament program for younger players. The first-ever NDA Junior Tournament is set for June 20-22, 2014, at the Ramada Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport at the Mall in Bloomington, MN.
The Junior Tournament will be open to contestants 20 years of age or younger. They must be NDA-sanctioned players to participate. Plans call for singles, doubles and triples events; the tournament will be leveled so that players of any skill level can compete against others of equal ability.
The association proposes to make the Junior Tournament fun for the entire family, with opportunities (including a mixed event) for junior and adult participants to play together. Attractive prizes will add to the fun, NDA said.
NDA president Judy Mehle, BMW Billiards (Loveland, CO), observed that the association has had great success with Team Dart
, and wants to make a similar program available to younger players in a family-friendly setting. "The Junior Tournament creates a wonderful opportunity for juniors and adults to play together," she said. "It is just one more way that the NDA can provide a benefit to our players."
