Sara Lee HQs Coffee And Tea Business In Amsterdam, Names Luc Volatier Operations, Supply Chain Senior VP

UTRECHT, Netherlands -- Sara Lee Corp. said it will headquarter its international coffee and tea spinoff in Amsterdam and incorporate it in the Netherlands, where its Douwe Egberts coffee brand is already based.

The company added that it will seek a listing for its coffee and tea business on the Amsterdam stock exchange as part of its plan to split the company in two.

Last year, Sara Lee announced its plans to separate into two publicly traded companies: an international coffee and tea beverage and bakery business and a North American food business that includes the Jimmy Dean and Hillshire Farms brands. (Last year, Sara Lee sold its North American bakery business to Mexico's Grupo Bimbo, Latin America's largest food company and vending operator.)

In related news, the company has appointed Luc Volatier senior vice-president of supply chain and operations of the international coffee and tea business, effective April 1.

Volatier, 44, will be in charge of procurement, supply chain and manufacturing operations. He will continue in the same role once the international coffee and tea business is spun off from Sara Lee in the first half of 2012. He reports to chief executive Michiel Herkemij.

Volatier joins Sara Lee from GrandVision B.V., where he was vice-president of global supply chain. Earlier in his career, he had executive roles in supply chain and procurement with Danone Group in Belgium, the UK and Singapore, and Royal Numico in the Netherlands.
