ATLANTA -- The Coca-Cola Co. has enabled vending machines in several malls throughout metropolitan Atlanta to accept donations to the American Red Cross.

Customers using the Coca-Cola's interactive venders have the option to make a donation with their credit or debit card after they've bought a drink. They can also select an option on the machine's touchscreen to make a donation without buying anything.

"Using our existing group of interactive vending machines, this donation application gives our charity partners, like the American Red Cross, the chance to directly engage with thousands of people," said Thomas A. Barlow, senior vice-president of vending and wholesale for Coca-Cola Refreshments. "Through this technology, we're connecting worthwhile philanthropic organizations to passionate Coca-Cola drinkers."
