LOUISVILLE, CO -- Eldorado Artesian Springs Inc. claims to be the first U.S. bottled spring water company to use 100% recycled plastic in its bottles. It began the transition to the eco-friendly cooler bottles and single-serve containers this month.

Recycled plastic, or RPET (recycled polyethylene terephthalate), is made from plastic that was previously used as packaging, then recycled and processed to create new bottles. By using RPET instead of virgin plastic, Eldorado said it will reduce the energy required to produce its bottles by 77% and will cut greenhouse emissions by 58%.

Eldorado, based in Louisville, CO, delivers 5- and 3-gal. water bottles to homes and businesses throughout the Rocky Mountain region, and markets its single-serve waters through national retail grocery chains nationwide.
