SAN DIEGO, CA -- Fresh Healthy Vending, a national "healthy" vending franchiser, has named Ford Motor Co. as its transportation partner for the next two years.
FHV chief executive Jolly Backer said he selected the Ford Transit Connect for franchisees because its design is optimized to meet the needs of businesses in urban areas while maintaining a high degree of fuel efficiency to minimize harmful emissions. The light truck reportedly achieves 22 city and 25 highway miles per gallon of gasoline.
"The Ford Transit Connect offers the flexibility and load-carrying capabilities that we need, and it literally offers double the fuel efficiency of similar vehicles, which made it an obvious decision for our company," Backer said.
Additionally, the trucks serve as mobile offices for franchisees, Backer explained. The USB interface and wireless Internet capabilities of the Transit Connect allow FHV operators to plug in their computers and stay connected with machines while on the go.
"Our machines have remote monitoring so we can track sales and service requirements in real time," said Backer. "This way, we know what products to take to what locations or whether a machine needs service at all. We never waste time or fuel visiting a location unless it is necessary, and that is groundbreaking."
Backer added that the colorfully wrapped vehicles serve as a mobile billboard for promoting the FHV brand.
Separately, FHV announced that newly appointed franchisee Brandon Stallings has won the vending contract at four Tallahassee, FL, schools for the current school year.
