BAY CITY, MI -- Shelti Inc., a maker of pool, dart and foosball games, is changing its name to Gold Standard Games. "This is something that's been discussed and in the planning stages since I bought the company," said company owner Mark Robbins.
Robbins acquired the assets of Shelti Inc., based here, in 2010. The game manufacturer was founded in 2001 by a group of investors, including Dick Shelton, a former Valley Recreation Products executive. | SEE STORY
"We wanted a name that reflects the future direction and focus of the company as we bring new products to market," Robbins said. He reports that a new line of commercial coin-op and home recreation air hockey tables will be the first products to bear the name Gold Standard Games. However, some products will continue to carry the Shelti name, including certain pool tables and electronic dart machines, two categories in which the original name has strong brand recognition.
Robbins said the Shelti website and Facebook page will be updated over the next few months to reflect the name change. Shelti is online at shelti.com. The Bay City office's phone number is unchanged, (877) 893-1739. Gold Standard and Shelti products will be on display at the upcoming Amusement Expo.
