HOUSTON -- LAI Games' Speed of Light was chosen for the latest Reliant Energy Player Challenge under a program that benefits the greater Houston area Boys and Girls Clubs.
In this Challenge, Connor Barwin and Shaun Cody of the Houston Texans NFL team competed in a Speed of Light doubles match at a local Dave & Buster's here. Cody won, racking up a score of 519, compared to Barwin's 391. As a result, $1,000 was donated in Cody's name to the Boys and Girls Clubs.

LAI's Chris Brady reported, "We are seeing a large number of Speed of Light player videos posted to YouTube, and the formation of an active player community. It's great to see professional athletes enjoying the game, as well." These player videos can be found online at youtube.com/laigames.
Speed of Light attracts attention with its 8-ft.-high display of lights arranged in a large matrix in front of the player or players. The objective is to press the greatest number of illuminated buttons as quickly as possible to earn points and tickets. The game tests players' speed and reflexes while entertaining onlookers. Energetic music and lighting effects accompany gameplay.
Recently, LAI made three engineering improvements to the game. First, new under-floor lighting makes the base platform more visible and gives it an attractive glow in gamerooms with low lighting. Second, a new powder-coated metal background grid makes placement more versatile. And third, instruction panels explaining one- and two-player modes visually illustrate the game's objective, and encourage double play.
