CHICAGO -- C. Cretors and Co. has introduced the latest in its growing line of popcorn machines, the Mach 5. This represents the fifth generation of the popular popper, first introduced more than 75 years ago. It is available in 20-, 32-, 48- and 60-oz. kettle sizes, and is well suited for movie theater concessions and other foodservice applications.
The new popper comes equipped with two heat lamps installed inside the cabinet, allowing for storage of fresh, crisp popcorn. Also included are two halogen lights providing patrons with increased visibility and ease of operation. The one-piece kettle design prevents oil leakage that could otherwise seep into the retainer and damage wires and heating elements.
The Mach 5 features a new plastic bin liner and snap-on lid to maintain the raw corn's freshness while protecting the food from contamination. The new stainless steel frame represents an upgrade from the traditional aluminum structure, creating a more durable machine.
Optional controls include a salt/sweet switch which allows the user to change between "salted" and "sweet" corn production, and a One-Pop control that allows the operator to initiate heating the kettle, popping a batch of corn and shut down after one popping cycle, all with a single press of a button. The One-Pop control is also available with a counter that records the number of popping cycles.
An integrated pump, stainless steel kettle, automated bag filler and customer-programmable LED sign are other options available to customize the popper. The Pop-It-n-Top-It option is an integrated butter topper built into one corner of the machine that enables the operator to fill a bag of popcorn and add topping in one step.
